The Poetry of Michael Hayes

Michael Hayes presents a vulnerable and evocative poetry collection that carries depth in each stanza.

Deeply personal, incredibly touching, and written for all readers, Songs of the Salt Pond captures the very essence of what it means to be human and feel a wide range of emotions - from happiness, to grief, to loneliness, to joy tinged with guilt - and everything in between.

Michael E. Hayes was born in New York City, went to high school in Los Angeles and college in the mid-west. He has a Ph.D in Psychology from the University of Michigan. Although he comes from a literary family , he only started writing upon the death of his wife in 2018.

He was finalist in the Key West Literary Seminar’s Scott Merrill Emerging Poet Award 2021, also, he was invited for the two consecutive years to participate in the Key West Literary Seminar’s Advanced Poetry Workshop. He has lived in Key West for 20 years.
